Walking around Williams College, designer Ryan Olavarria was appalled by the lack of fashionable backpacks.  Wanting to change the aesthetics of the campus, he sought out a venerable outdoor bag manufacturer across the New York border to produce his first collection of preppy backpacks.  After graduation and relocating to Manhattan, the line quickly expanded to a collection of accessories, tote bags and small leather goods sold from Nantucket to Palm Beach.  Over time the line has shifted to include a number of higher-end collections exclusive to the boutiques in which they are sold.  R. Williams also produces an understated line of products marketed at sororities.  Custom and bespoke bags and prints are also available.
